Vacation Money Mom Saved To Visit Son Is Stolen
Vacation money a local mom had saved in order to visit her son was the only thing stolen when her home was burglarized Monday.
The victim, age 50, summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies to her Norton Road home to investigate the crime. She reported that she had left her home, returning six hours later to find that her front door had been unlocked.
The victim told deputies that she checked inside, but the only thing that appeared to have been taken was a tin box she had kept on her counter. It contained a total of $2,300.
No damages or sign of forced entry was found. The victim discovered that the spare key she kept hidden had been taken. She told deputies that she was the only one who knew the location of the key.
Investigation into the crime is on-going by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
